Mariyah Moten, a 22-year-old US-based Pakistani, is being billed as “Pakistan’s first Miss Bikini”. This after she won the title of Best in Media Category at the Miss Bikini Universe 2006 pageant in China on August 26.

I think it’s finally great to see someone who represents genuine liberal values in Pakistan. Tough didums if it offends conservative & relogious zealouts. The secular trend of the 1960’s – 1977 era has finally re-emerged. I just hope it continues…if it can work India then why not Pakistan?

All those who say it’s no big deal she wore a bikini and we should let our women wear it, why don’t you start with your family’s women. Oh and she did not represent pakistan in anyway. She was raised in the US and applied from there. So she would be representing the US.

Mariyah did very impulsive thing for every muslim in the world.As a muslim or a pakistani we felt agony.how can we say we are muslim.any muslim women can do it..?nothing ..even never.Mariyah grown in us that`y she did as she saw there.i thing no pakistani women should follow her.

Well I live in houston, She is the student of Hotel Managment in UH. She migrated from Karachi, Pakistan 8 years ago, She was Pakistani but not muslim. Yes, they are actually from Kadianey relegion. You can find lot of pakistani and indian girls like that in USA, some of them are working as a striper for living.

I know I`m late but meh . Wearing bikinis is not a prideful thing nor is it called “freedom.” Why would a woman show off her body like that? Is it REALLY about pride or is it really about getting sexual attention? Is that all that women are good for–their bodies? Do their minds not count for anything? Women like her degrade women everywhere and it’s a step backward rather than a step forward. Now thanks to her contribution, women will continue to be seen as sexual objects rather than normal human beings with brains.

i am not going to blame you, because you have never understood and felt the the true spirit of Islamic values. more over i am not going to blame your parents. Every body has his own right to find the solutions of their internal (spiritual) and social gaols. just think, that in this conscious world the only creature who has beauty in a hidden dress of Islamic values is ‘woman’. SHE has done nothing wrong. this is her choice and her free well. no one should be imposing their idea on other people. if you are muslim, christan or any religion. keep your religon with u. don’t impose it on me. Islam is a religon for everyone. but islam prohibits people from imposing religon on others by force. i is a free well. i know that all of u guys like her inside your heart. you want your woman to wear bikini as well, but you are afraid of people. what well they say. if you guys were afraid of ALLAH or GOD. you guys would not find this place at first. you enjoy looking at her. you want your woman to ware the samething, yet you are waring a reglion mask and criticizing her.
